LOCATION FOR VISITORS CAR PARKS

The nearest two designated Visitors Car Parks for your convenience are located at:
(please refer to the VP signs showing on our map for the location of these visitors car parks)

a) Visitors Car Park by Mount Pleasant – accessed opposite the Metropolitan Cathedral

b) Visitors Car Park by Cambridge Street – at the rear of Bedford House

TARIFFS FOR VISITORS CAR PARKS

Visitor car parking is currently charged at the following rates, or as displayed in the car parks.  Payment is made on foot at the payment machines located in each visitor car park.

Peak (Monday – Friday from 07:30 – 17:29 Hours)

0 - 1 hour - £1

1 - 2 hours - £2

2 - 3 hours - £3

3 - 4 hours - £4

Over 4 hours - £5 (This fee buys up to 17:30, off-peak rates apply after)

Off-peak (Monday to Friday from 17:30 – 07:29 next day)

0 - 1 hour - £1

1 - 3 hours - £2

Over 3 hours - £3 (This fee buys to 07:30, next day rates apply after)

Peak rates apply for entries made after 07:29.

Off-peak rates apply for entries made after 17:29 on Friday until 07:30 Saturday.  Weekend rates apply after.

Weekends (Saturday to Sunday, 00:00 – 23:59)

1 - 3 hours - £2

Over 3 hours - £3 (This fee buys to Monday 07:30, next day rates apply after)

You are advised to take a ticket from the barrier machine when entering the car park. This will activate and raise the barrier. Before exiting the car park, pay the relevant charge at the pay station located within each car park. The ticket is then inserted into the barrier on exit to raise the barrier. The pay stations accept both notes and coins but will NOT accept card payments.

The CMD is located approx. 5-10 minutes walk across campus from either of the Visitors Car Parks.

DIRECTION TO THE VISITORS CAR PARKS

From M62 (end of motorway)

1) At the end of the M62 get into the middle lane as you approach the first set of traffic lights.

2) At the traffic lights go straight on via Edge Lane following signs for the City Centre A5047 and Albert Dock.

3) Continue straight on for approximately 2 miles. A couple of landmarks you will pass on the way are (1) after 0.5 a mile, on your left, a Blockbuster video store (2) 1 mile Edge Lane Retail Park (McDonalds) and (3) 1.5 miles, on your left, Liverpool Digital.

4) When you have crossed the 8th set of traffic lights go straight on following signs for the City Centre (the signpost for the left and right at these crossroads is A5089 Ring Road). Once you have crossed the lights follow signs for Cathedrals and University (left hand lane).

5) At the next set of lights go straight on staying in the left hand lane.

6) At the next set of lights turn left, and immediately move into the right hand lane which will take you past the church on the right and down the hill (Mount Vernon).

7) Move across to the left hand lane as you approach the next set of traffic lights (passing the Mount Vernon pub on the right).

8) At the next set of traffic lights take the left turn onto Minshull Street, so that the University of Liverpool Life Sciences building is on your right hand side.

9) Follow this road around a sharp turn to the right to Brownlow Hill, follow the road and turn left at the traffic lights onto Mount Pleasant, pass the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Bus Stop on your left, the Visitors Car Park by Mount Pleasant can be found on your left hand side.

10) For the Car Park by Cambridge Street Visitors, pass the Visitor Car Park by Mount Pleasant and turn left at the traffic lights onto Oxford Street, pass the Nat West and HSBC on your left, turn right at the traffic light onto Mulberry Street and take the first left onto Cambridge Street, the Visitor Car Park by Cambridge Street can be found on your left hand side.

From the Mersey Tunnels

Kingsway

1) From the Kingsway (coming from Wallasey) take the right hand lane at tunnel exit and follow signs for City Centre.

2) Continue straight-ahead taking either left hand lane (signs for Warrington, Manchester, M62 and Royal Liverpool Hospital) into New Islington (passing John Moores University building on left).

3) Take the right hand lane, turning right at main set of traffic lights into Norton Street, (signs for Ring Road, Lime Street Station and University). The National Coach Station will be on your right.

4) Take the left hand lane and turn left at traffic lights into London Road. Keep in right hand lane and continue straight through the next two sets of traffic lights. The Liverpool Dental Hospital will be on your right (green lights and Sherrington Building (blue) on your right.

5) Take the next right onto Crown Street. Continue down Crown street to the next ‘T’ junction.

6) At the ‘T’ junction take a right turn onto Brownlow Hill, follow the road and turn left at the traffic lights onto Mount Pleasant, pass the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Bus Stop on your left, the Visitors Car Park by Mount Pleasant can be found on your left hand side.

7) For the Car Park by Cambridge Street Visitors, pass the Visitor Car Park by Mount Pleasant and turn left at the traffic lights onto Oxford Street, pass the Nat West and HSBC on your left, turn right at the traffic lights onto Mulberry Street and take the first left onto Cambridge Street, the Visitor Car Park by Cambridge Street can be found on your left hand side.

Queensway

1) From the Queensway Tunnel (Coming from Birkenhead) take the 1st exit at the roundabout. Keep in the right hand lane as you approach a set of traffic lights (Following signs for Warrington, Manchester, M62 and Royal Liverpool Hospital).

2) Keep in the right hand lane through these traffic lights and turning right at the next main set of traffic lights into Norton Street, (signs for Ring Road, Lime Street Station and University). The National Coach Station will be on your right hand side.

3) Take the left hand lane and turn left at traffic lights into London Road. Keep in right hand lane and continue straight at the next two sets of traffic lights. The Liverpool Dental Hospital will be on your right (green lights and Sherrington Building (blue) on your right.

From Liverpool John Lennon Airport

1) Coming out of the airport turn right at first roundabout and left at traffic lights onto A561.

2) Continue along A561 (approx. 2½ miles) following signs to City Centre. Turn left at traffic lights then turn immediately right at next set of lights.

3) Continue past sports centre on left to 2nd set of main traffic lights.

4) Turn right into Upper Parliament Street. At the 5th Set of traffic lights turn right into Grove street.

5) Continue down Grove Street, turn left at the second sets of traffic lights onto Oxford Street, turn left at the next set of traffic lights onto Mulberry Street and take your first left onto Cambridge Street, the Visitors Car Park by Cambridge Street can be found on your left hand side.

From Lime Street Railway Station

Liverpool Lime Street (Inter-City Station) is a 10-15 minute walk from CMD.

1) Leave the station from the main entrance of the station on Lime Street turn left and walk along Lime Street until you reach the Adelphi Hotel (on your left). Walk past the Adelphi Hotel and turn left up Brownlow Hill.

2) Walk straight up Brownlow Hill (you will cross 3 side streets and one main road) until you reach the University of Liverpool campus (this should take approximately 5 minutes).

3) Carry on walking on the right hand side on the street, you will pass Tesco and Barclays Bank, keep on walking uphill until you reach the Veterinary Hospital on your right hand side, turn right onto Crown Street and continue walking approximately 150m down the road. CMD is on your right.
